1. Controller
#

The controller responsible for processing personal data in connection with this website is:

Dennis Irrgang
Email: d@irrgang.dev
Postal address: see the Legal Notice.

2. Technical delivery of the website
#

irrgang.dev is a static website generated with Hugo. The published pages are generated in advance and delivered through Cloudflare Workers Static Assets. There is no WordPress/PHP backend, no user account system, no comment system, and no contact form.

When you access the website, Cloudflare must process technically necessary connection and request data so that the requested content can be transmitted and Cloudflare’s infrastructure can be operated and protected. This may include, in particular, your IP address, the time and target of the request, and HTTP information transmitted by your browser.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the secure, reliable, and performant delivery of this website.

Cloudflare processes data as a service provider under its contractual and privacy terms. Where personal data is transferred to third countries, Cloudflare provides transfer mechanisms including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary safeguards.

3. Cloudflare Web Analytics
#

I use Cloudflare Web Analytics for a coarse-grained view of website usage and technical performance. Cloudflare uses a JavaScript RUM beacon that collects page views as well as performance and navigation metrics from browser APIs and sends them to Cloudflare.

According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics uses no cookies, Local Storage, or fingerprinting to collect these usage metrics. The source IP address that necessarily reaches Cloudflare during normal HTTP transmission is, according to Cloudflare, discarded at the nearest Cloudflare data centre and is not stored in central databases or logs for the RUM service.

The analytics are used only to understand website usage in aggregate and to identify technical performance issues. They are not used for personalised advertising, remarketing, or the creation of individual visitor profiles.

Where personal data is processed in connection with Cloudflare Web Analytics, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is privacy-preserving audience and performance measurement for improving the website.

Further information:

4. Cookies and local storage
#

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or persistent browser-side storage for analytics. After you deliberately change the site’s appearance, however, the Hugo theme can store the value light or dark under the key appearance in your browser’s Local Storage. This value contains no user identifier and is not used for tracking.

Depending on security features that are actually triggered, Cloudflare may set technically necessary security cookies. See the Cookies and Local Storage Policy for details.

5. Contact by email
#

If you contact me by email, the information you provide, including your email address and message content, is processed to respond to your request.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and, where the communication concerns entering into or performing a contract, additionally Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data is deleted once it is no longer required to handle the request and any necessary record-keeping or retention purposes.

6. Retention
#

I do not operate a separate application database for this website. Technical and aggregated analytics data at Cloudflare is processed and deleted according to the settings, contractual terms, and retention rules applicable to the respective service. Email correspondence is retained according to the criteria described in section 5.

7. Recipients and international transfers
#

Recipients of personal data may include technical service providers required to operate the website, in particular Cloudflare for delivery, protection, and web analytics, and the email service provider used for email communication.

Cloudflare is headquartered in the United States and operates a global network. For transfers from the European Economic Area, Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum provides suitable transfer mechanisms, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Your rights
#

Where the statutory conditions are met, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority.

To exercise your rights, contact d@irrgang.dev.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
#

This Privacy Policy will be updated if the technical delivery of the website, the services used, or the applicable legal requirements change materially.
